Permanent or Temporary Disconnections

If you are undergoing renovations and need to temporarily disconnection your electricity supply, then GEC can help. We can arrange for the meter to be removed and the electricity supply cut off until you have completed any ground or structural work. Once this work has been completed the utility can be re-connected on an agreed date. You will need to speak to your utility provider to notify them of the disconnection.

Expertise in coordinating electricity supply disconnections

Our in-depth knowledge of the UK’s energy market allows us to easily coordinate the implementation of a utility disconnection with the minimum of fuss.

From start to finish, we can oversee every aspect of your disconnection services including:

  • Disconnect existing services and mains
  • Disconnect and remove meters
  • Relocate existing meters and services
  • Alter existing services or meters
  • Divert any existing service or mains
  • Reinforcement of the network

How long will it take for my electricity supply to be disconnected?

Since the electricity is disconnected at the main supply (which is on public ground), the length of the process will depend on the required traffic management and the availability of engineers in your area. Once we’ve spoken with you and obtained all the information we need, we can provide you with a more accurate timescale and completion date.

Can my electricity supply be reconnected at a later date?

We can’t give you a straight yes or no answer to this, as it depends entirely on the capacity of electricity that’s required. Get in touch with GEC and we’ll be able to look into this for you.
